The Secretary General of the WCO, Kunio Mikuriya, announced that 2012 will be dedicated to promoting connectivity, including enhanced cooperation and communication, under the slogan "Borders divide, Customs connects”. 

The Knowledge Academy aims at bringing you the latest updates on Customs and trade related issues. Join us between 2nd and 13th of July 2012 at the WCO headquarters in the heart of Brussels.

 

 

THE PROGRAMME

The Excise Mini Summit

On July 2nd and 3rd, an Excise Tax Mini Summit will take place, where speakers from diverse backgrounds will discuss a wide variety of topics related to the rationale, impact and targets of excise taxation.

The Knowledge Academy

From July 4th to the 13th, business professionals from the private sector, Customs managers and administrators, international organisation representatives and academia will benefit from various learning tracks on the most pertinent topics in the Customs and Trade environment today.

Expert speakers will enrich the discussions during plenary sessions to share ideas, best practices and concrete experiences.

The Knowledge Academy on Customs and Trade brings together the experts from the WCO as well as a number of high level professionals in the area of Customs and Trade.

 

During the KACT, you will have the opportunity to exchange, discuss and reflect on the latest decisions made by the WCO in different fields of expertise as well as learn from the experience of successful companies.

 

The Knowledge Academy is more than a training event: it is above all the possibility for professionals such as you to get in a short, focused amount of time, the most up-to-date information on topics you care about for your business.

SESSIONS AND FEES

Three learning tracks will be available during the KACT:

  • 2 in English for the private sector
  • 1 in English and French for the Customs Administrations.

Participants from the private sector can combine modules from tracks 1 and 2, customs administrations can combine modules from all the tracks.  Be aware that the schedules of the modules you select do not clash.

 

The courses will be led by technical experts widely respected in their various fields and will include instructors from private sector companies, government institutions, and academia with regards to these important topics.

The primary objective of the WCO Knowledge Academy for Customs and Trade is to provide an intense training for Customs and Business practitioners.

 

The cost for the private sector to attend the full Academy is 2.000 €.  Which includes:

  • participation to the Excise Tax Mini Summit
  • participation to a full track of modules (7 days of training)
  • Coffee breaks
  • 1 evening activity
  • 1 field trip on Saturday July 7

Please note new adapted fees for the different sessions!

Individual modules can be booked separately, and participation fees are:

  • 1.200 € for Harmonized System or WCO Data Model
  • 1.000 € for all the other sessions: Trade facilitation, Rules of Origin, Customs Valuation, AEO / SAFE, Risk Management and Globally Connected Networks
  • Risk management on Friday 6 and Revenue Package (Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12) are only open to WCO Customs adminstrations.

Early birds get a special discount: 1.500 € for the full Academy.  For individual modules, the special discount is as follows:

  • 900 € for Harmonized System or Customs Valuation
  • 600 € for Rules of Origin or WCO Data Model
  • 600 € for AEO / SAFE or Risk Management
